PROJECTS!

So our team of 16 split into 3 teams for two weeks.

Team One:kings kids - it's like a mini DTS, one month long, kids are 15-17

Team Two:NIKO - there is a summer camp for kids 18-19 and they needed extra people to staff a NIKO so some of our team led that

Team Three: Hope House - 5 people stayed at the hope house to work on projects around the base and work with the boys who weren't in the summer camp or kings kids.

In front of the Hope House there is a little fish pond. When we started it looked and smelled like a nasty mud puddle. The plan was to drain it, out gravel on the bottom, and big rocks around the outside, put a pump in, refill it.

Matti (base director) couldn't get a pump.

Abort mission....half way through.

Draining
Finished, not completely refilled
Behind the soccer court we had a lot of space and Matti wanted a chicken/goat coop. Nigel took this project on along with hope house help. We have been working on it for two weeks, and are almost done. These are pics from the beginning.

Making concrete!

The Christmas tree was taken down and we couldn't find a suitable spot for it without it being infested with Mosquitos. So we decided to put it in the rafters!

This is a roof we put over the walkway to the school! It was so much fun to work on this one. I got to climb up there and pass shingles around, etc.

  1. So I'm thinking when Emma comes to visit maybe Nigel would like to join her and we can all knock some things off the "Hill" to-do list. =)
